I've actually defended the FBI in the distant past. Doing so was a mistake as I'm now learning they are irredeemable as a law enforcement agency. Reforms wouldn't be enough to fix the rot.
If they go for reform the first thing to do is move FBI headquarters out of DC. Put it somewhere in the middle of the USA so they aren't near the corruptocrats that live in DC. MILPERS moved to Millington, TN and everything was fine.
Then remove all department heads from Chris Wray to 5 levels down the chain in every department. For the start replace them with honest, retired military...no General Milley's.
I come from a Police family in suburban New York - the family members all to a man and women had NO RESPECT OR USE FOR THE FIBERS( FBI) or the DOJ . How many under cover ops were disrupted by the FIBERS BURSTING IN TRYING TO CLAIM CREDIT I can’t say without revealing sources.
In the early 1980’s a joint NY NJ investigation into OC stealing sales tax on gas diesel and oil sales was disrupted when one of the suspects went to the Newark office of THE FIBERS and spilled the racket to the AGENTS in that office . He was next found on the side of the NJ Turnpike near the Meadowlands with both legs broken and barely alive. The gangsters went underground and the NY & NJ state Police had to reform the investigation . Thd members of OC got off easy the other the non OC participants ALSO were given shot sentences but lags fines. This incident was used as the backdrop for the movie “GET SHORTY”!
Disband the FBI and put the "Investigative" portion under the U.S. Marshalls. Let the current agents in the field (and not the 7th floor of the J Edgar Bldg) apply for a new job with the Marshalls.
