You identify a our strategic weakness problem properly. But to characterize the Sentinel as the proper solution is wishful thinking. It's a subpar, inferior weapons platform that will be obsolete the day it goes online. Susceptible to the same defensive weapons capability that Minuteman is. And those antiquated technologies you describe are actually superior to modern technologies that are hackable and neutralized without any firepower. How much of any high-tech renovation will be made in China? It's a poorly-conceived "improvement."
The weakness problem needs to be addressed with true innovation.
I'm a USAF vet, served at FE Warren when we were bringing the Peacekeeper weapons platform online in the mid-1980's. It was a gamechanger. I've been in the missile silos, the Minuteman 3 and silos retrofitted (enlarged) to hold Peacekeepers. And I've been in the LCF's that control multiple silos. Yes, the pictures in the article are barely changed from forty years ago. That's been my work, my mission.
But the Sentinel is a boondoggle in slow motion, will only line the pockets of defense contractors and construction contractors with riches as far as they eye can see and only put lipstick on a outdated technology pig. Where's true American ingenuity that changes the game when we need it?
Sir, a close relative spent time on Minuteman 2s and 3s too as well as Titans, Atlas, SR71. Great information. That old tech, predigital has a better chance to withstand an EMP than today's F35s.
Fact of the matter is, most all of it is obsolete now. Control of space is the most important battlefield of all. Everything in modern society, logistics, infrastructure, weapons, communications, transportation, everything depends on those eyes and ears. I had the opportunity to visit with NORAD generals in the early 2010's, we talked about the greatest threat we face that keeps them up at night. The reply was Chinese "killer satellites." And probably Russian today. They could devastate our nation worse than any nuclear attack could. More lives lost, economy wrecked, wickedness unleashed in a zombie apocalypse-dystopia as hordes scavenge to survive. Nukes get all the attention. But they're so last century.
It is true. Western Leaders certainly including the US and Nato are so far beyond critical thinking, it is scary. Probably the next 12 months will be our worst. The West has rested too long on its post WW2 reputation. Recently, America has spent itself nearly into oblivion because of the rot in both political Parties in DC.
I personally prefer a peaceful negotiation. Everyone loses in a nuclear war. You’d think folks would have wised up by now. The ‘military industrial complex’ doesn’t like my opinion, but fuq them. Their greedy asses are the only reason we need bombs. They stir a kettle of shit just to bitch about the smell.

Pray for Putin, freedoms last hope.

It seems like having an outside government/entity defeat our communist government and freeing us from its oppression is possibly our only hope.
It is very sad for our Republic to have disintegrated to this point.
And then there's Big Mike!
